Title: Search for axion-like particles in pp and PbPb collisions at the LHC

Abstract: This talk delves into the pursuit of the direct production of pseudoscalar axion-like particles (ALPs) decaying to photons,  conducted with the data collected by the CMS detectors at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). ALPs are hypothetical particles predicted by many extensions of the Standard Model, which could potentially solve the strong CP problem in quantum chromodynamics (QCD). The search was performed in PbPb ultraperipheral collisions, probing the pseudoscalar mass above 5 GeV. In addition, the search was conducted in pp collisions, leveraging the capabilities of modern end-to-end deep learning techniques. Furthermore, I will also discuss diverse applications of end-to-end deep learning for particle identification and reconstruction.
