Women in Physics Meeting
September 14, 2016 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
FreeWe invite all interested students/postdocs/faculty members to the joint student seminar
organized by the Women in Physics & Astronomy Group, and the Society of Physics Students on:
Topic: “Entrepreneurship Opportunities – Are They for Physicists?”
Speaker: Dr. Rachel Frazier (Assistant Director, Alabama Innovation and Mentoring of Entrepreneurs Center, UA)
Abstract: What do you want to do with your physics degree? Have you thought about pursuing your own ideas?
Even if you haven’t, what can a physicist learn from entrepreneurs? What can entrepreneurs learn from physics?
There are opportunities at UA to learn about entrepreneurship through experiencing it first-hand. We’ll
talk about some of these opportunities and how you can get involved.
For example, the Crimson Startup program gives you the tools to turn your research, technology, or idea into a product, service or process that benefits society. Work with innovative ideas, talk with customers and work in a diverse team. Learn more and apply: http://icorps.ua.edu/crimson-startup.html.
Light refreshments will be provided.
