Astronomy Public Observing Night at Moundville

October 25, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

The Astronomy group in the Dept. of Physics & Astronomy will be hosting a public night at Moundville Archeological Park.

Prof. Emeritus Ron Buta and Prof. Bill Keel will lead a deep-sky observing session, observing galaxies and nebulae, using 16″ and 17″ telescopes and the portable 20-inch “Big Little Telescope.” The telescopes are set up on a pad in the field across the road from the museum (see locator map). The park does not charge for after-hours admission for these programs.

The event is open to all: young and old, student and non-student, wheel-chair bound or not. In short, it is open to the general public.

Note:
Public observing sessions are conditional on good weather. In case of cloudy or inclement weather, including high winds, public observing will be cancelled. Please check the weather forecast for the day and the Dept. of Physics & Astronomy public observing website before traveling.
