Tenure-track Position in Theoretical Cosmology, Particle or Astroparticle Physics

    The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Alabama (physics.ua.edu) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in theoretical physics in the areas of cosmology, particle, or astroparticle physics. The appointment will begin August 2009. Candidates for this position are expected to have an outstanding research record and exhibit potential for effective teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Minimum qualifications for this position are a Ph.D. and a record of scholarly publications. The successful candidate is expected to develop a vigorous, externally funded research program in theoretical physics, as well as teach and mentor at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The current seven member particle physics group includes both theorists and experimentalists. Review of applications will begin 15 January 2009 and will continue until the position is filled. Tenure-track Positions in Astronomy and Astrophysics

    The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Alabama invites applications for two tenure-track positions in astronomy or astrophysics at the rank of assistant professor. We are particularly interested in applicants in extragalactic observation at all wavelengths, computational astrophysics, and high-energy astrophysics, related to the group's current extragalactic interests. The appointment will begin 16 August 2009. Related research groups at UA are interested in theoretical particle physics, experimental particle physics and astroparticle physics; the department intends to establish a theoretical astroparticle physics program in the near future. The minimum qualĩcations for this position are a Ph.D. or equivalent, postdoctoral experience, scholarly publications, and experience with modern research techniques in astronomy and astrophysics.
