Tenure-track Position in Theoretical Cosmology, Particle or Astroparticle Physics
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Alabama
(physics.ua.edu) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant
professor position in theoretical physics in the areas of cosmology,
particle, or astroparticle physics. The appointment will begin
August 2009. Candidates for this position are expected to have an
outstanding research record and exhibit potential for effective
teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Minimum
qualifications for this position are a Ph.D. and a record of
scholarly publications. The successful candidate is expected
to develop a vigorous, externally funded research program in
theoretical physics, as well as teach and mentor at the undergraduate
and graduate levels. The current seven member particle physics
group includes both theorists and experimentalists. Review of
applications will begin 15 January 2009 and will continue
until the position is filled. Applications should consist

Tenure-track Positions in Astronomy and Astrophysics
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Alabama
invites applications for two tenure-track positions in astronomy
or astrophysics at the rank of assistant professor.
We are particularly interested in applicants in extragalactic observation
at all wavelengths, computational astrophysics, and high-energy astrophysics,
related to the group's current extragalactic interests.
The appointment will begin 16 August 2009.
Related research groups at UA are interested in theoretical
particle physics, experimental particle physics and astroparticle
physics; the department intends to establish a theoretical
astroparticle physics program in the near future. More
information about the department can be found on the departmental
website, physics.ua.edu. The minimum qualĩcations for this
position are a Ph.D. or equivalent, postdoctoral experience,
scholarly publications, and experience with modern research
techniques in astronomy and astrophysics. Candidates for this
position are expected to have an outstanding research record
and exhibit potential for effective teaching at the undergraduate
and graduate levels. The successful candidate is expected to
develop a high quality, externally funded research program,
